Eric's Report Card

E Cropped.png

Eric Thomas, Ph.D. is a world renowned speaker, author, pastor, and educator. ET, as he is better known, has captured the hearts and minds across the globe with his dynamic communication style and high-energy messages.

With over 20 years of real-life, in-the-trenches community activism experience, Eric is living proof of what tenacity, drive, and focus can produce when applied to properly; especially in the classroom. After taking 12 years to get a 4-year degree, ET went on to earn a Master's degree and Ph.D. in Education Administration from Michigan State University.

Eric's long-standing success began with his award-nominated GED program and youth-focused nonprofit, "Break The Cycle, I Dare You". Building on the success of these initiatives, Eric developed Michigan State University's Advantage program, which helps improve the study habits and retention rates of high-risk college students.

Now, with The Playbook Program, Eric is helping lead the way in increasing literacy and leadership skills across the country, equipping students with the necessary skills to thrive.

 NEW BOOK

YOU AIN'T THE BOSS OF ME

It's ya boy ET and man; I am so excited about this book! You Ain't The Boss of Me is a gamechanger for students, teachers, and parents alike! Being misunderstood by others is a terrible thing. Not knowing who you are or what you can do, and not being able to explain why is even worse! You Ain't the Boss of Me is positioned to educate us all on who we are, who our students, children, classmates are and, how we can all succeed once we know how to play to our strengths by identifying and avoiding our weaknesses!

Every kid has the promise of greatness within them — every single one. The key to nurturing that greatness is knowing each child's unique approach to learning. I'll be honest with you. If you coached football and ran the same plays every game, every week, every season, you'd get beat daily. The best coaches learn their squad's strengths then mix and match their plays to bring out the best in their team. Great teachers do the same. By identifying a kid's unique approach to learning, their "superpower," teachers are better able to coach their students to greatness! Unfortunately, most kids don't even know that they have a superpower and, that's where "You Ain't The Boss Of Me" comes in. Every student CAN succeed! They just need the right tools to make that happen. Every child wants to achieve greatness; it's our job to teach them how.

I firmly believe if you don't know you can fly, you'll always think you can't.

After which, they all came away more empowered and dedicated to doing their respective parts in ensuring every student experienced a measure of educational success.

The thought of motivation and education being a natural fit for me was very easy to see as I am a former coach. Therefore, when I discovered Eric Thomas' "When You Want To Succeed As Bad As You Want To Breathe" video in 2010, I knew I had to find some way to introduce it to all of the stakeholders at my school.

I have successfully implemented ETA videos, books, posters, and grind gear at three title one elementary school in Texas over the past six years. Of which, all have each seen a tremendous upward shift in their student's performance. The use of motivational tools provided by Eric Thomas in my estimation has been a major factor in that positive upward trend.

I would highly recommend  Eric Thomas to empower every stakeholder that's involved with your school!

If you want the students and teachers at your school to take ownership and achieve more, Dr. Thomas is the man.

quote55.png

This is the best start to the school year we've ever had!

Dr. Thomas came and spoke to 550 employees of my school district. I had people from maintenance to administration and all in between saying that they can give more. "120" became a mantra for excellence within our district after ET's event. He challenged people that taught the Advanced Placement scholar to the often disciplined troubled youth. The overarching statement has been that this is the best start to the school year we have ever had. "ET is exactly what we need." A 24-year veteran who can retire at the end of this year said, "If we keep getting resources like this I may teach three more years." ET has helped to positively change the culture of our district in one 3-hour session.
